Namespace Naming Guidelines

The general rule for naming namespaces is to use the company name followed by the technology name and optionally the feature and design as follows.

  • Try to use Pascal Case.
  • Try to partially match Project/Assembly Name.

For example:

                namespace Blog.Web

namespace Microsoft.Media

namespace Microsoft.Media.Design

Prefixing namespace names with a company name or other well-established brand avoids the possibility of two published namespaces having the same name. For example, Microsoft.Office is an appropriate prefix for the Office Automation Classes provided by Microsoft. Use a stable, recognized technology name at the second level of a hierarchical name. Use organizational hierarchies as the basis for namespace hierarchies. Name a namespace that contains types that provide design-time functionality for a base namespace with the .Design suffix For example, the System.Windows.Forms.Design Namespace contains designers and related classes used to design System.Windows.Forms based applications.

Class Naming Guidelines

The following rules outline the guidelines for naming classes:

  • Use a noun or noun phrase to name a class.
  • Use Pascal case.
  • Use abbreviations sparingly.
  • Do not use a type prefix, such as C for class, on a class name. For example, use the class name FileStream rather than CFileStream.
  • Do not use the underscore character (_).
  • Add an appropriate class-suffix when sub-classing another type when possible.
  • Occasionally, it is necessary to provide a class name that begins with the letter I, even though the class is not an interface. This is appropriate as long as I is the first letter of an entire word that is a part of the class name. For example, the class name IdentityStore is appropriate.
  • Where appropriate, use a compound word to name a derived class. The second part of the derived class's name should be the name of the base class. For example, ApplicationException is an appropriate name for a class derived from a class named Exception, because ApplicationException is a kind of Exception. Use reasonable judgment in applying this rule. For example, Button is an appropriate name for a class derived from Control. Although a button is a kind of control, making Control a part of the class name would lengthen the name unnecessarily.

Interface Naming Guidelines

The following rules outline the naming guidelines for interfaces:

  • Name interfaces with nouns or noun phrases, or adjectives that describe behavior. For example, the interface name IComponent uses a descriptive noun. The interface name ICustomAttributeProvider uses a noun phrase. The name IPersistable uses an adjective.
  • Use Pascal case.
  • Use abbreviations sparingly.
  • Prefix interface names with the letter I, to indicate that the type is an interface.
  • Use similar names when you define a class/interface pair where the class is a standard implementation of the interface. The names should differ only by the letter I prefix on the interface name.
  • Do not use the underscore character (_).

For handling apostrophe problem inside the string, you can use String.Replace function in ASP.NET for replacing the "'" with "\'" for saving the data into database.

string strString = "How to Handle's apostrophe within";
string strReplace= strString.Replace("'", "\'")

And when re-display this value on your HTML string.

You can again replace "\'" with "'" for displaying value on screen.

For any query, please update the Comment.

We have facing the problem, when we scroll down the page and then click on link.

<a href="#" onclick=""> Link </a>

When any user click on this link, A popup will be open but the page position will be change to top.

This type of problem you are facing when page having vertical scrolling by using GridView, ListView or by displying with HTML.

We can fix the page position using given below solution :

After analysis, We have found that this problem is due to using # inside the href.

So we can resolve this problem by creating one Javascript function and use this function in href and remove onclick inside the <a> tag.

//Javascript Function

function fnPopupClick(linkDetails, popupPosition)
    popupwindow =,"_blank",popupPosition);
    popwindow.moveTo(0, 0);

//Link used in your HTML

<a  href='javascript: fnPopupClick("subscriber/PageName.php","toolbar=no,scrollbars=yes,
)' title="Title Details" >Link Name</a>

My problem will be resolved using this way, Hope this will be helpful in resolving your issue.

For any query, you can apply comment on this.

We have received the Error "control with [ID] link button could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel" when we using the given below code for handling the UpdatePanel for displaying the prodcut on ASP.NET page.

<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" Runat="Server">
        //This is the section used for displaying the list box
        <asp:UpdatePanel ID="ProductListPanel" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
               <asp:ListView ID="lstProductList" runat="server" ItemPlaceholderID="plcProductList">
               <asp:LinkButton ID="LnkButtonProductEdit" runat="server" OnClick="LnkButtonProductEdit_Click"
CommandName="EditProduct" CommandArgument='23'>Edit</asp:LinkButton> </asp:ListView> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> //This is the section used for displaying the Data in tabular format for updating and viewing. <asp:UpdatePanel ID="ProductUpdatePanel" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> //Displaying Code Here in Ajax </ContentTemplate> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnJobCardSearch" EventName="Click" /> </Triggers> </asp:UpdatePanel> </asp:Content>

After analysis on the internet, we have found that this error is coming due our link button control is inside the ListView. So we have remove the <Triggers> control

   <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnJobCardSearch" EventName="Click" />

 and put below update into the link button click event (LnkButtonProductEdit_Click)

After using this, My problem for error "control with [ID] link button could not be found for the trigger in UpdatePanel" is resolve.

Hope resolving this problem using this also help to other one to resolve their problem.
